President Dilma Rousseff and members of the Brazilian Congress,

In the face of a dramatic rise in attacks and murders of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Brazilians, we need your immediate support for the passage of the Anti-Homophobia law (PLC122) that will ensure that ALL Brazilians have equal protection under the law. The passage of this law will be a historic step in the fight against violence and discrimination in Brazil.

This campaign has ended.

UPDATE: 100,000 signatures collected by AllOut.org and Avaaz.org were delivered to the Brazilian Congress on the International Day Against Homophobia, May 17, attracting nationwide media attention. See some pictures from that event here and a vigil against homophobia we helped coordinate here.

On March 2nd a surveillance camera captured the brutal execution-style murder of Priscila, a 22-year old travesti/trans person in Brazil (Belo Horizonte). Now the country's only gay member of Parliament, Jean Wyllys, is receiving death threats. Brazil has one of the highest murder rates of LGBT people in the world.

Since Priscila's death, dozens more Brazilians have been murdered in homophobic and transphobic hate crimes. Will you take a moment to ask the Brazilian Congress to do the right thing and pass the proposed lifesaving Anti-Homophobia and Hate Crimes law?
