To: The Governor of Istanbul, Vasip Şahin

The Pride Parade in Istanbul just got banned for the fourth time in a row.

We call on you as the Governor of Istanbul to ensure that the Pride march can go ahead without any restrictions and with the full support and security provided by your local authorities.

This campaign has ended.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates and help us get the word out about our campaigns for love and equality.

Istanbul Pride is the biggest LGBTI+ event in the region and it had been happening peacefully since 2003.

For the past 4 years, however, local authorities have consistently blocked the event, claiming it's a matter of safety and public order.

But when local activists tried to defy the authorities' bans by marching peacefully, they were met with tear gas, rubber bullets, and water cannons by the police. That's not guaranteeing safety and public order!

Tell the Governor of Istanbul to let LGBTI+ people in Turkey celebrate Pride freely!

This campaign is being run in conjunction with Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week and Amnesty International.
