Istanbul Pride is the biggest LGBTI+ event in the region and it had been happening peacefully since 2003.
For the past 4 years, however, local authorities have consistently blocked the event, claiming it's a matter of safety and public order.
But when local activists tried to defy the authorities' bans by marching peacefully, they were met with tear gas, rubber bullets, and water cannons by the police. That's not guaranteeing safety and public order!
Tell the Governor of Istanbul to let LGBTI+ people in Turkey celebrate Pride freely!
This campaign is being run in conjunction with Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week and Amnesty International.
