Elham is a 23-year-old refugee from Iran. For most of her life, she didn't know it was okay to be a lesbian. Doctors in Iran told her that she must be transgender. They said there was no way she could be a woman who liked other women.
Her uncle said she was a dishonour to her family and threatened to kill her. She was left with no other choice but to escape to Turkey. But Turkey isn't safe for gay and lesbian people, either – they're targeted with violent assaults and constant discrimination.
After years of trying, Elham came very close to being resettled in the United States, but everything changed when Donald Trump became president. Now, she's stuck in Turkey, waiting again. Elham is hardly alone - countless other LGBT refugees are stuck in Turkey right now under similar circumstances.
That's why All Out is working with an amazing organisation called the Iranian Railroad for Queer Refugees (IRQR). If enough people chip in, IRQR can pay for safe housing and food for Elham and 49 other LGBT refugees stuck in Turkey.
