UPDATE: 2 May 2017 - Members of All Out and Shams, our partners in Tunisia, delivered over 45,000 signatures to the country's National Council of the Medical Order, urging them to completely ban forced “anal tests” and punish all doctors who practice them. Check out the photos of the delivery here.
If you're arrested under Tunisia’s anti-gay law, authorities can force you to undergo “anal testing.” They claim it’s an examination to find "evidence" of your sexual orientation. It's actually a traumatising sexual assault that proves absolutely nothing.
The National Council of the Medical Order called for doctors to stop carrying out anal exams without consent. This is a step in the right direction, but it’s not enough. The police are known to force people accused of same-sex conduct to consent.
If thousands of us speak out now, we can help end these abhorrent practices once and for all. Demand that the National Council of the Medical Order to completely ban anal tests and punish those who practice them in Tunisia.
