To: Chancellor Angela Merkel

As Ukraine's key trade partner, you should give Yanukovych a "red card" by refusing to attend this month's Euro Cup and strongly urging him to denounce the laws in his Parliament that want to make saying "gay" illegal. Stand with Marcus Urban, Germany's first openly gay pro football star, and fans from around the world by sending a strong message against Ukraine's abandonment of democracy and human rights, particularly for gay and lesbian people. This Euro 2012, let's celebrate more than sport!

Posted: June 5th 2012: Are you going to Euro Cup 2012? François Hollande, President of France, is not. After Ukrainian President Yanukovych refused to stand up for democracy and human rights, the French government decided to boycott in protest. If we can convince Chancellor Angela Merkel to follow the trend and also boycott it will make headlines everywhere and pressure Yanukovych to finally denounce the laws in his Parliament that want to make saying "gay" illegal.

Marcus Urban, Germany's first openly gay pro football star, wants to tell Merkel to boycott. If he can show her that thousands of us - gay and straight - are standing up against homophobia in Ukraine, we can push her over the edge and get her to cancel her trip to Kiev. He's delivering all our names in TWO DAYS.

The Euro Cup starts on Friday. Will you take one moment to ask Merkel to give Yanukovych a red card and boycott Euro 2012?
