To: Friedrich Joussen, CEO of the TUI

Last September, 75 people were arrested after someone waved a rainbow flag at a concert in Cairo.

This year, at least 33 people have so far been arrested and taken to court, just because authorities presumed they're LGBT+. And even tourists get arrested on accusations of "debauchery" and deported from the country.

Send an email directly to Friedrich Joussen and ask TUI to speak up for LGBT+ Egyptians and sign this open letter, reminding the Egyptian state of its responsibility to protect their citizens and release all those from prison who were put in jail just because they’re assumed to be LGBT+.

Egypt is a country of wonders – with its famous pyramids, breathtaking ancient temples, and beautiful sandy beaches.

But there's a dark side to it you won't read about in glossy travel brochures: Last September, 75 people were arrested after someone waved a rainbow flag at a concert in Cairo. Some of these innocent people received harsh charges of up to 6 years in prison.

This year, at least 33 people have so far been arrested and taken to court, just because authorities presumed they're LGBT+.

The Egyptian government cares little about their LGBT+ citizens – but they do care about the hundreds of thousands of tourists flocking to the country on holiday. So we came up with a plan to convince them that being anti-LGBT+ is bad for business:

TUI is one of the main travel agencies in the UK, sending thousands of visitors to Egypt every year. If their CEO Friedrich Joussen signs our open letter, reminding the Egyptian authorities of their responsibility to protect LGBT+ citizens, they won't be able to ignore it.

Send a message to TUI and ask them to take a stand for LGBT+ Egyptians.

This campaign is being run in conjunction with the Alliance of Queer Egyptian Organisations.
