To: Mark Okerstrom, CEO of the Expedia Group

Last September, 75 people were arrested after someone waved a rainbow flag at a concert in Cairo.

This year, at least 33 people have so far been arrested and taken to court, just because authorities presumed they're LGBT+. And even tourists get arrested on accusations of "debauchery" and deported from the country.

Send an email directly to Mark Okerstrom and ask the Expedia Group to speak up for LGBT+ Egyptians and sign this open letter, reminding the Egyptian state of its responsibility to protect their citizens and release all those from prison who were put in jail just because they’re assumed to be LGBT+.

Egypt is a country of wonders – with its famous pyramids, breathtaking ancient temples, and beautiful sandy beaches.

But there's a dark side to it you won't read about in glossy travel brochures: Last September, 75 people were arrested after someone waved a rainbow flag at a concert in Cairo. Some of these innocent people received harsh charges of up to 6 years in prison.

This year, at least 33 people have so far been arrested and taken to court, just because authorities presumed they're LGBT+.

The Egyptian government cares little about their LGBT+ citizens – but they do care about the hundreds of thousands of tourists flocking to the country on holiday. So we came up with a plan to convince them that being anti-LGBT+ is bad for business:

The Expedia Group is one of the main travel agencies in Australia, Canada and the USA, sending thousands of visitors to Egypt every year. If their CEO Mark Okerstrom signs our open letter, reminding the Egyptian authorities of their responsibility to protect LGBT+ citizens, they won't be able to ignore it.

Can you send a message to the Expedia Group and ask them to take a stand for LGBT+ Egyptians?
