TO: Dolce & Gabbana

In 76 countries, it's a crime to be gay. Nowhere in the world do lesbian, gay, bi and trans people have equal rights. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, by your recent comments, you've become part of the problem and not the solution.

Families are about love. Any family built around love is legitimate, whether a single parent family, one with gay, lesbian, bi or trans parents, or with children adopted or conceived through IVF.

Everyone has their own opinion, but you are using your profile to demonise and isolate innocent kids. Please use your platform to open minds, rather than spreading hate.

Fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana are sparking a global outcry. They said gay families aren’t “real families”. Prejudice like this coming from such big names is giving anti-gay politicians ammunition to attack the rights of families that don't fit a traditional model.

Together, we can limit their damage by showing huge public support for loving families of all shapes and sizes: single parent families, families with gay, lesbian, bi or trans parents, or with children adopted or conceived through IVF.

Do you believe that what makes a family is love – and that all families deserve the same protection? Then don't let bigots win. Sign now.

Elton John has slammed Dolce & Gabbana's claims that gay families aren't real families - and that IVF babies are "synthetic".
